THE ROLE OF ICT AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION ON CARBON EMISSIONS: AN AUSTRALIAN EVIDENCE USING COINTEGRATION TEST AND ARDL LONG-RUN AND SHORT-RUN METHODOLOGY

Information and communication technology (ICT) energy consumption have substantially increased use over the last decade. It has become one of essential aspects for improving standard life many people. This study investigates impact internet on carbon emissions (CO2 emissions) using annual data from 1990 to 2019. For this investigation, ADF PP unit root tests were applied with Zivot-Andrews structural break test. The paper implements ARDL cointegration test, JJ Bayer-Hanck test check long-run relationship between dioxide (CO2), use, GDP total population. results show that there exists a variables. findings reveal negative ICT environment, whereas positive significant environment. According short-run dynamics results, both usage statistically impact.
